Troubleshooting an LED wall driven by a Kystar processor
Kystar processors (KR family and friends) handle video conversion and slicing upstream of many event and advertising walls. When « the wall is down », it is often the processor displaying something unexpected: input, preset or output resolution.
Processor-specific checks
- Display the processor's internal pattern: if it is correct on the wall, the whole LED chain is healthy and the problem is the source or input settings.
- Check the selected input and the received signal (resolution and frequency reported by the processor).
- Recall the preset planned for today's configuration: a wrong preset moves windows and slices.
- Check the output resolution: it must match exactly the area driven by the sender card.
- Reboot the processor after any dubious source change: some HDMI locks only release at reboot.
Frequent traps in live events
A control PC outputting 59.94 Hz into a wall expecting 60 Hz creates flicker and tearing: force the output to 60.00 Hz — see also the flicker guide.
Presets overwritten mid-show are the plague of shared kits: lock validated presets and export the processor configuration after every successful gig.
When chained with an external sender card, each stage has its own resolution: a single-pixel offset between stages produces artefacts that are hard to diagnose.

The processor pattern is fine but my source won't display — what to check?
The source format: resolution and frequency accepted by the input, cable and HDCP. Test the source on a monitor, then force a standard resolution (1080p60) before refining.
My preset vanished after a power cut — normal?
Saved presets survive power cuts; an unsaved configuration does not. Get into the habit of saving the preset and exporting the configuration after every validated setup.
The processor runs hot in a closed rack — a risk?
Yes: overheating causes intermittent signal losses that are hard to diagnose. Ventilate the rack and dust the air intakes before the busy season.
Does Lédia know Kystar references?
Yes: Kystar processors are part of her expertise base, and she reasons across the whole chain — source, processor, sender card, wall.
