Troubleshooting a Colorlight-driven LED wall

Widespread on advertising and mid-range walls, the Colorlight ecosystem is built around the LEDVISION software, 5A-75B/75E and i-series receiving cards, and X and Z processors. Its typical failures mirror other ecosystems — with a few specific traps.

Quick answerLEDVISION not seeing the sender card: direct USB cable, software as administrator, firewall, then software version. On 5A receiving cards, the blinking green LED confirms data is arriving; a solid or dark LED points to the network cable or the previous card in the chain.

LEDVISION does not detect the sender card

  1. Direct USB, no hub, cable changed, software run as administrator.
  2. Firewall and antivirus: LEDVISION must be allowed, especially over the network.
  3. Check the sender card appears in Device Manager; reinstall the driver if needed.
  4. Test with a recent LEDVISION: old versions do not recognize recent cards.

Colorlight-specific traps

Module parameters (configuration file) must match the module's driver IC and scan exactly: a wrong file gives scrambled image, swapped halves or abnormal brightness. In doubt, don't guess: request the original file from the wall's supplier.

After any change, saving to the cards is a separate step from sending — the universal Send/Save trap applies to Colorlight too.

On cabinets with several 5A cards, note the internal chaining order before swapping: a cable returned to the wrong port moves the fault instead of fixing it.

Frequently asked questions

My 5A-75E blinks green but the cabinet stays dark — why?

Blinking green confirms data, not LED power nor the output flat cables. Check the 5 V at the supply output, then the flat cables between card and modules.

Can I mix 5A-75B and 5A-75E cards?

Avoid it within one chain: capacities differ (flat-cable count, memory) and the configuration file is model-specific. Replace like for like.

Can LEDVISION read a configuration back from a card?

Yes on most recent cards, letting you recover a configuration from a healthy card and propagate it. Precious when the original file is gone.

Does Lédia cover Colorlight?

Yes: LEDVISION, iSet, 5A and i-series cards, X and Z processors are part of her expertise base, exact menus included.
